This makes life easier and more flexible, but it also means that having access to digital services is essential.

Stay informed with Digital Post

Public authorities in Denmark communicate primarily through Digital Post rather than mail carrier. Here, you will receive important information about tax, healthcare, your municipality, and other public services. It is important to check your Digital Post regularly and stay up to date.

Your key to digital Denmark

Once you have a CPR number, you can set up MitID, Denmark’s digital ID. You will use it to access online banking, healthcare services, tax information, and many public self-service solutions. Think of MitID as your secure key to everyday life in Denmark.

Which apps could be useful in your everyday life in Odense?

All apps can be downloaded from either App Store or Google Play, but they may not all have an English language alternative. 

Biblioteket: In the library app, you can borrow books, e-books, audio books, movies, music, and more. The libraries also offer events, study spaces, community activities, and free access to digital resources. You can use their app to check out books, create favorites, and keep track of your home collection of borrowed library items.

eReolen: Free access to thousands of Danish and English e-books, a smaller collection of books in other languages, audio books, and podcasts with your library membership. You have a certain quota to borrow within a month, but some you have unlimited access to. 

Supermarkets and stores: Many shops have apps with loyalty programmes, discounts, digital receipts and weekly offers.

Rejseplanen: Plan journeys across Denmark using trains, buses, metro, and trams in one app.

DSB: Buy train tickets, check departures, and receive travel updates for journeys across Denmark.

Rejsebillet: Purchase tickets, plan trips, and get real-time information about public transport. With this app, you get local prices for journeys throughout Denmark, and in Odense, the special ticket, Odense Now, is available here. It's a reduced price for a trip with either Fynbus or Odense Letbane within Odense. The app is also available in English.

AULA: This is an app for the public school communication between parents and the school. Follow school updates, communicate with teachers and stay informed about your child's education. Private schools may use other, but similar, solutions.

Banking: Manage your finances, transfer money, pay bills and approve purchases securely from your phone. Most banks in Denmark have an app-based self-service solution. 

MinLæge: Book appointments with your general practitioner, renew prescriptions, and communicate with your doctor online.

Postal Services: Track parcels, buy postage and manage deliveries from Danish postal and courier services like GLS, UPS, DAO, PostNord, Bring, etc. In Denmark, the official provider of postal services and letter deliveries is DAO.

Sundhedskortet: Access your digital health insurance (Yellow) card directly from your phone whenever you need it. You can also add other family members to your app.

Kørekort: The Danish Driving Licence app lets you carry your valid driving licence digitally on your smartphone. It is accepted as identification when driving in Denmark.

Digital Post: In Denmark, you can read Digital Post (official mail from public authorities) on several platforms.
